Description

Overview: K-LIRT's 2009 Summer Workshop is a time to learn all about “Teaching Strategies from a Technological Viewpoint,” connect with other instruction librarians, ask all those teaching questions the reference librarian can’t help you with and just have fun! You will learn to fuse your lessons with technology for a new and improved information literacy curriculum.

Intended Audience: Anyone who provides (or is interested in providing) formal or informal library or information literacy instruction to elementary, high school, or college students.

Contact Hours: 4
 

Format: The workshop will include lecture, demonstration, and plenty of opportunities for practicing new skills.

11:00-12:00 Session 1: "Heutagogy: What Mom Didn't Tell You About Pedagogy" - Jane Eberle

12:00-1:00 Lunch

1:00-2:00 Session 2: "Subject Guide 2.0: Integrating Dynamic Subject Guides into In-class Instruction" - Tara Coleman

2:00-3:30 Session 3: "Digital Video Development as a Teaching Tool" - Zeni Colorado


Cap: Registration will be capped at 30.

Registration Period: Registration will be open until the cap is reached. If the cap has not yet been reached on the day of the event, on-site registration will be accepted.

Registration Fee: K-LIRT Members $30; All Others $40. Lunch and parking are included in the registration fee.

How to Register:

  1. Download and fill out the Registration Form (pdf, one form per registrant).
  2. Make a check payable to Kansas Library Instruction Round Table ($30 for K-LIRT members; $40 for all others). PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to come, but will not be able to have a check cut until after July 17th, please send a copy of your travel authorization, purchase order, or check request now, and then send the actual check after July 17th.
  3. Mail the completed form and check (or travel authorization, purchase order, or check request) to the following address:

Driving Directions:

The entrance to the parking lots near Visser Hall is at the intersection of West 18th Ave. and Merchant St. (Google Map). Emporia State University's Campus & Community webpage provides driving directions from Kansas City, Wichita, and Topeka to the intersection of 12th Ave. and Commerical St. The intersection of West 18th Ave. and Merchant St. is one block west and six blocks north of the intersection of 12th Ave. and Commercial St.

 

Registrants who request a parking permit  on the registration form, will be mailed a parking permit for Emporia State University's Green Zone parking spaces. There are several such spaces near Visser Hall (map)
