MEMBERSHIP

Membership for the Children's Section is open to all Kansas Library Association members.

COST

The Council or section members determine the cost. Currently the annual fee is three dollars.

FUNCTION

1. The general purpose of this section shall be in accordance with that of the Kansas Library Association.

2. The specific purpose of this section shall be a forum for discussion and action on concerns in children's and school library service. It shall provide a link between public and school children's librarians.

ELECTIONS

1. Election of officers shall be in accordance with the Kansas Library Association by-laws.

2. Elections are held at the Children's Section meeting held at the annual Tri-Conference.

3. Nominations: The Chair Person is responsible for appointing a nominating committee. The committee will nominate possible candidates for the Vice-Chair Person.

4. At the end of the Tri-Conference, the current Vice-Chair will assume the office of Chair Person.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF OFFICERS

Chair Person

1. It is the responsibility of the Chair Person to supply enthusiasm and leadership.

2. The Chair Person presides over section meetings. A section meeting is called once a year, at Tri-Conference. Arrangements are made with the Conference Chair.

3. The Chair Person sets goals for the organization and assists in accomplishing goals set by the Kansas Library Association.

4. Assists the Vice Chair in programming for Tri-Conference.

5. Attend the the Kansas Library Association Council meetings.

Vice Chair Person

1. It is the responsibility of the Vice Chair to provide programming for the upcoming Tri-Conference.

2. Work with the Tri-Conference Chair in making arrangements and developing proposals for Tri-Conference. Completes and submits proposal forms. May also choose to develop a self supporting preconference.

3. Programming must relate to school and children's librarians and their services.

4. The Vice Chair is elected for a one year term. He/she will assume the office of Chair Person after the new election.

5. Attends all meetings of the CHildren's Section.

Immediate Past Chair

1. Represents the Kansas Library Association in the William Allen White Committee.

2. Functions in an advisory role to the Chair Person and Vice Chair. Provides support and leadership.
